Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, poses with a Tesla Roadster in front of Nasdaq after its IPO in 2010.
Elon Musk, chairman and chief executive officer of Tesla Motors, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 just before he participated in the opening bell ceremony at the Nasdaq MarketSite. Tesla Motors Inc. raised $226 million selling shares above its forecast price range in the first initial public offering of the U.S. automaker in a half century.
Tesla Motors is one of the most extraordinary business success stories in recent decades, in part because it has accomplished what no other American company has accomplished in more than half a century: Become a viable new car company — and electric at that. One of the main reasons the company has succeeded is because of the vision, determination, and brass balls (Sorry, no other way to say it) of the man at the helm, entrepreneur Elon Musk. Tesla Motors has become a household name, virtually overnight.
