Antonis Mor van Dashorst began his meteoric career by apprenticing as an assistant to Jan van Scorel in Utrecht. After a two-year sojourn to Italy, he was accepted into Antwerp's Guild of Saint Luke. Then van Dashorst began traveling among the Habsburg courts from London to Madrid rendering portraits of the nobility and military leaders, as seen here in this 1558 painting.
