Giorgio Vasari was born Florence and at a very young age he became the pupil of Guglielmo de Marcillat, but his decisive training came when he enjoyed the friendship and patronage of the Medici family, apprenticing within the circle of Andrea del Sarto, and became a lifelong admirer of Michelangelo.
