English landscapist and portraitist Joseph Wright was the first Romantic artist to find inspiration in the rise of science and the burgeoning Industrial Revolution. Wright was also a master of illusionism; a patron viewing this work in his studio asked him to remove the birdcage that was obstructing her view of the children. Remastered at Art Chateau in 2015.
