Fredric Westin was a portrait and history artist that studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Art. After 1812 he primarily painted for Royal Families, rendering paintings, murals and door panels for King Charles XIV of Sweden. Westin painted voluminous mythological figures of Zuse and Hebe as well as the fantastical Mixed-Media painting of Cupid that we see here.
