Realist painter Salvatore Postiglione excelled at genre, historical, and religious art, as well as portraiture. As a student at the Institute of Fine Arts at Naples, he was a pupil of Domenico Morelli. Here we see Postiglione’s masterful realism in his rendering of the great storyteller Boccaccio reading aloud his masterwork, the “Decameron”.
