Seville-born artist Jose Roldan y Martínez was a figure-drawing instructor at the School of Fine Arts in his home city. Roldan was heavily influenced by Murillo and created many “costumbrista” or folk genre works, featuring beggars and street dwellers. Here we see a beautiful Mixed-Media painting, a dual equestrian portrait of two titled gentlemen, with the old city of Seville in the background.
