Cuban artist Mario Carreño studied at the Art Academies of Havana, Madrid, and Paris. Carreno left his native island after a government crackdown on leftist intellectuals resulted in his family home being destroyed, solely for his being an Art Nouveau painter. Here we see the artist’s academic training in his intriguing allegory of the New World’s discovery and remastered at the Studion of Art Chateau in 2016.
