German-born Plein-air landscapist Albert Bierstadt was an artist shaped by the Dusseldorf and Hudson River Schools of pastoral painting. Bierstadt’s romantic and “luminist” nature scenes are often classified as examples of Rocky Mountain School wilderness images.
