Hemispherical Map of the World, Limited Edition (9/50)

Engraver and cartographer Gerrit Lucasz van Schagen specialized in reproductions, a common occupation in an era when printing was at best labor-intensive and unable to keep up with demand. This 1689 Atlas-piece was perhaps van Schagen’s best-known work, indebted heavily to Johannes Blaeu‘s earlier world chart for its geographic content and stylistic inspiration. Remastered at Art Chateau in 2016.
