Flemish painter and engraver Hans Witdoeck was one of the last ‘reproductive’ engravers, who made plates of the works of other artists. This is an example of just such a copying – Witdoek carved the plate in a re-rendering of Peter Paul Rubens’ “Abraham and Melchizedek”, the latter non-Cohenim priest being a prefiguring of Christ in the Old Testament. Mixed-Media work of art, remastered in 2015.
