The work of Dutch artist Jacobus Johannes van Poorten exemplified the plein air Romantic landscapists of the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His oeuvre was at root an ode to the Providence and tried to merge the emotion of the artist, the raw splendor of the wilderness, and the Planner beyond time into one canvas for the contemplation of the viewer.
