McGregor is the new ambassador for the new Moto Guzzi California 1400. This is the first time that a Hollywood star of this calibre, one of the most beloved on the silver screen, has joined forces with a motorcycle manufacturer for an advertising campaign. Ewan took a break from the filming of his next film, “Son of Gun,” to pose in the cross-hairs of Italian photographer Paolo Zambaldi’s lens.

Ewen McGregor has been in more than 50 films, including “Trainspotting,” “Star Wars,” “Moulin Rouge” and “Big Fish.” He also shared his passion for Moto Guzzi in the road documentary “Long Way Down,” when he stopped at the Mandello del Lario, Italy factory to visit the Moto Guzzi headquarters for the first time. A few months later he turned back up at Mandello del Lario for the 2007 edition of World Moto Guzzi Days, returning to London astride his white California Vintage.

Mcgregor said that he is proud to have participated in this advertising campaign. "I think we have really done something unique and great" I liked the new California 1400 straight away, from the first time I saw it! Then it surprised me when I rode it. It is from another planet...truly surprising! And this is coming from someone who knows Moto Guzzi, if you consider that my 10 Moto Guzzis include models like the 1971 V7 Ambassador, the 1972 V7 Sport, the 1974 V7 Eldorado, the 2000 V11, the 2001 V11 Tenni, the 2009 California Vintage with a sidecar… and now the California 1400!

Ewen McGregor...calling a friend from the Moto Guzzi Museum in Mandello del Lario, Italy...we'd like to think it's Charlie Boorman. In 2004 Ewan and Charley embarked on an epic "Long Way Round" challenge, to bike 20,000-miles, cross 12 countries and 19 time zones in just 115 days. Riding motorcycles they crossed Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia to ride the Road of Bones through Siberia, over to Alaska, through Canada, North America and finished in New York. The Long Way Round can be seen on Netflix.

The truth is, McGregor, well known for his love of motorcycles, is a much bigger fan of Moto Guzzi than you'd ever guess, Ewan has owned several Moto Guzzis including a California Vintage and now the California 1400. The Moto Guzzi's “My Bike, My Pride” campaign is running all over Europe, where it will be carried in the press and on the websites all around the world, so it seemed a natural connection for McGregor to become the face of Moto Guzzi's new California
