Providing the purest exquisite taste of coffee is a passion for Starbucks. Coffee beans begin as seeds of coffee cherries that grow on coffee trees. Company buyers travel all over the world networking with Farmer Support Centers to find those rare beans. Most often the seeds are located in Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa-Arabia. Once found, the beans are handpicked, sorted, processed, washed, fermented and dried. Next, the seeds for delivery to the roasting plant are placed in burlap sacks and shipped. Once received, the sacks are opened and poured into a rotating drum to begin the process.
